Every word ever written is
a metaphor of the soul
a being cast in fire to merely take shape
and as the words take form, as essence stands
it draws life from the kindling heat inside a writer’s heart
the drafts you draw
like everything caressed by the crisp air
is a womb
a birthplace of that fire
sanctuary of all burnings…
To you who write, please
keep that fire alive
that fire, it grants
all the power you need
to create and to destroy
fascinate man with sparks and warmth
or cook him if you please
melt his barriers of ice and steel
or mar his golden dreams
To you who write,
i bow and plead
take weapons from thy heat
yield swords and shields with
that fire you make
breath freedom! as you smith
To you who write,
To you who dream,
To you who sing and speak,
here is I
who humbly bow and plead
whence wars are fought
and hopes are spent
please keep that fire alit.
